		<title>Options for 2010-11</title>

		&#60;p&#62;BA Year 2 and 3 Options for 2010-11 will be published on this site at the start of April. They will also appear on the BA Student Information Moodle site. Briefing meetings have been scheduled as follows:&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;Tuesday April 20th, 1pm, B612: Students selecting Year 2 modules&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;Wednesday April 21st, 1pm, B612: Students selecting Year 3 modules.&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;Module selections will be made via Moodle, and further details of the process will be published here shortly.&#60;/p&#62;

		<title>2010 Orator&#39;s Prize Winner</title>

 &#60;p&#62;The School of English is&#38;nbsp;delighted to announce the first winner of&#38;nbsp;a new prize founded to&#38;nbsp;showcase the work of NAW students in the annual graduation brochure.&#38;nbsp;The brief was&#38;nbsp;to write no more than 400 words on a theme suitable for the event and&#38;nbsp;congratulations go to Federay Holmes, who&#38;nbsp;receives &#38;pound;150 plus publication in the brochure. Her work&#38;nbsp;will&#38;nbsp;be read by&#38;nbsp;more than 20,000 people&#38;nbsp;during a series of ceremonies&#38;nbsp;in January and&#38;nbsp;February 2010.&#38;nbsp;Federay&#39;s winning entry is available online &#60;a href=&#34;/english/docs/writing/definitive-soup.pdf&#34;&#62;here&#60;/a&#62;.&#60;/p&#62;

		<title>AHRC funding for Research &#38; Development Unit</title>

		&#60;p&#62;The &#60;a href=&#34;http://rdues.bcu.ac.uk/&#34;&#62;Research and Development Unit for English Studies&#60;/a&#62; (RDUES) in the School has recently secured a research project worth &#38;pound;92k, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, to develop a learning resource for use at secondary school level. The Knowledge Transfer Fellowship award will fund a new project designed to introduce the &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.webcorp.org.uk/&#34;&#62;WebCorp Linguist&#39;s Search Engine&#60;/a&#62; (WebCorpLSE) as a state-of-the-art curriculum resource for the teaching of A-level English Language.&#60;/p&#62;

		<title>Further successes for our Diploma in Writing cohort</title>

		&#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;&#60;em&#62;Richard Howse&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/strong&#62; made the top 20 in the &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.screenwritersfestival.com/fever-pitch.php&#34;&#62;Screenwriters&#38;rsquo; Festival 2007 Fever Pitch Competition&#60;/a&#62; and had his script sent to channel 4 for consideration.&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;&#60;em&#62;Robert Ronsson (also known as Robert Ireland)&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/strong&#62; won the latest &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.buttonbridgebooks.co.uk/&#34;&#62;Button Bridge Books short story competition&#60;/a&#62;.&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;&#60;strong&#62;&#60;em&#62;Amy Seely&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/strong&#62; has been approached by a producer to write a screenplay about &#38;lsquo;rock and roll lifestyles in 70s California centred around the life of Terry Reid (aka &#34;Superlungs&#34;). More details to follow when she&#38;rsquo;s further along with negotiations.&#60;/p&#62;
 &#60;p&#62;and &#60;strong&#62;&#60;em&#62;Federay Holmes&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/strong&#62;, a member of the new cohort , has had a story accepted for literary magazine &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.badidea.co.uk/&#34;&#62;Bad Idea &#60;/a&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
