Laura is a Lecturer in Criminology in the School of Social Sciences. She specialises in Criminal and Forensic Psychology and is currently undertaking a part-time PhD in Psychology at Loughborough University. Laura has previously held research posts at the Universities of Loughborough, Leicester, and Portsmouth.

Laura's research has primarily focused on youth offending and anti-social behaviour, specifically: offending by young people in local authority care; interventions for young people who commit arson; the mental health of children and young people who display anti-social behaviours; young offenders and anger management. She has written on issues surrounding prison assessments and the needs of women in prison, and has been involved in a number of large scale research projects, funded by both national and local government agencies.

Current Research

Currently Laura is researching the pathways into crime taken by women who offend. This research utilises a sample of women currently in prison in England, combining in-depth interviews with data from the national Offender Assessment System (OASys).
